The history of adjustable beds in general dates back many years. The idea of an adjustable bed—also referred to as a hospital bed or an electric bed—was developed in medical settings to give patients comfort and support. These beds allowed for various angles and positions to assist patients with certain medical requirements, such as those with mobility or respiratory problems.

Actually it is said that Howard Hughes was the original designer of the first electric adjustable bed. He gave his designs to a small company that brought to the market the first adjustable bed: named: Adjust-A-Bed. Over time, adjustable beds went from being just used in hospitals and other healthcare facilities to being accessible to the general public. As more individuals became aware of the possible health advantages and increased comfort they provided, the demand for adjustable beds increased. To accommodate varying preferences, manufacturers started creating adjustable beds with a range of features, including as adjustable height, angle, and firmness settings.
